David and Victoria Beckham receive nanny apology

The Beckhams have received a High Court apology from their former nanny after she sold a story about them to a newspaper. The News of the World published an article which ran under the headline "Beckhams behind closed doors" in April 2005.

The case resulted from allegations made by Abbie Gibson about the private lives of the England player and his former Spice Girl wife after she had resigned from her job.

Her claims were printed in a newspaper article in April 2005, captioned "Beckhams behind closed doors."

On Tuesday, the couple's lawyer Gerrard Tyrrell told the High Court Gibson had now agreed to "permanent undertakings of confidentiality," the Press Association reported.

Gerrard Tyrrell, a solicitor for the Beckhams, told the court that Ms Gibson "has unconditionally apologised to David and Victoria Beckham and their family for breaching her duties of confidence".

Mr Tyrrel continued: "Ms Gibson has also agreed to the withdrawal of her claim for constructive dismissal that she made against the claimants which was issued in the Employment Tribunal in August 2005."

Niri Shanmuganathan, Gibson's lawyer, said his client was "happy to give the undertakings of confidentiality."
