Jada Pinkett Smith's new nurse drama 'Hawthorne'-Be patient

New and coming to TNT this month is Jada Pinkett Smith-starring and -produced drama, "Hawthorne". A sneak peek is released to give a clue on how committed nurse Christina Hawthorne is to her work and how hard it is to be entangled in the personal lives of her patients.

While the vital signs for the new Jada Pinkett Smith nurse drama "Hawthorne" are generally good, the patient may need a few more weeks of observation before we can declare the show will make it.

The pieces are in place for a solid drama-with-humor, the kind that cable channels are serving like aspirin these days. The problem is this show hasn't quite figured out yet how to integrate all the components into a uniform tone and direction.

Smith plays Christina Hawthorne, the chief nursing officer at Richmond Trinity Hospital. She's an obsessive workaholic who doesn't have enough hours to take care of everyone who needs attention, from patients to her family to the nurses under her authority.

But the long days at the hospital and Hawthorne's intense focus on helping others take a toll on her personal life. She is recently widowed(in drama) - her husband died after a battle with cancer.
