Former Memphis Tigers basketball star Antonio Burks and another man were shot during the course of a drive-up robbery Monday night in Memphis. Burks is being reported to be in critical condition.
Memphis police told The Commercial Appeal that three men pulled up to a house where Burks and four other men were outside. Police say the three robbed the five men, then shot Burks and another man, whose injuries weren’t critical.
Burks signed with Lukoil Academic in Bulgaria in August 2007.Prior to that, he was with Red Star Belgrade (KK Crvena zvezda) of the Serbian basketball league.According to eurobasket.com report, Burks was banned for a season from FIBA, because KK Crvena zvezda had informed them that Burks had broken the rules of his contract by leaving 20 days earlier.
