Sacha Baron Cohen has paraded his “Bruno” character successfully to the viewing public this weekend, topping the box office in a close race with the animated feature “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.” Bruno was successful on fewer screens, having only shown on 2,756 compared to Ice Age’s 4,102 screens.WEEKEND TOP 5 STUDIO ESTIMATES,

2. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - $28.5 million ($120.6 million)
3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - $24.2 million ($339.2 million)
4. Public Enemies - $14.1 million ($66.5 million)
5. The Proposal - $10.5 million ($113.8 million)
Another film opening this weekend, “I Love You Beth Cooper,” failed to the films projection expectations, generating a dismal $5 million and a seventh place finish.
The film starred Hayden Panettiere as a cheerleader that on graduation is the subject of an unpopular student’s commencement speech.
