Former Titans Quarterback Steve McNair was finally laid to rest at Griffith Cemetery, near Prentiss, Mississippi, after the funeral attended by 4,500 fans, family and friends and held at the Reed Green Coliseum in the University campus on Saturday (July 11).
On July 4, 2009, the bodies of McNair and Sahel Kazemi were found in McNair's home in Nashville; both bodies had gunshot wounds. On July 8, 2009, the Nashville-Davidson County assistant medical examiner announced that traces of gun powder residue were found on the hands of Kazemi and confirmed that their deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, with McNair being the murder victim.
McNair’s burial service was only for a few hundred family, including wife Mechelle McNair and mother Lucille McNair, and close friends.
