Karen Cunagin Sypher accused Rick Pitino of assault, rape and offering her money to have an abortion, while the University of Louisville basketball coach claims the sex was consensual and accuses Karen of extortion.
Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino says he had consensual sex with Karen Cunagin Sypher after a night of fine dining and thereafter offered to pay for her abortion, according to police reports. Karen Cunagin Sypher says she was raped by the Louisville basketball coach.
University President James Ramsey released a statement Tuesday night saying: “Several months ago Coach Pitino informed me about the alleged extortion attempt. 
I’ve now been informed that there may be other details which, if true, I find surprising. My thoughts are with Coach Pitino and his family.”
Tim Sypher’s condo was the meeting place for the alleged Karen Cunagin Sypher Rick Pitino abortion discussion, says reports. Tim Sypher is divorcing wife Karen Sypher. Yet, Tim is listed married to her on U of L’s website.
