Miss Universe 2009 Stefanía Fernández of Dominican Republic

Stefania Fernandez was crowned Miss Universe 2009 in Nassau in the Bahama Islands on Sunday.final results put Stefanía Fernández ahead of Dominican Republic - Ada de la Cruz, Kosovo - Marigona Dragusha, Australia - Rachael Finch, and Puerto Rico - Mayra Matos.


Stefania received her crowd from the former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza (check out her topless Maxim spread), also from Venezuela, and accidentally drops her precious tiara before picking it up, putting it on and smiling to the audience.

Oil producer Venezuela is famous for its beauty queens and has accumulated more international beauty pageant titles than any other country. The South American nation had produced five previous Miss Universe winners in 1979, 1981, 1986, 1996 and 2008 and has also won the Miss World contest five times.

Only the United States has won more Miss Universe titles with 7.

* United States - Kristen Dalton

Those not advancing pass the top 15 were the following:

* Iceland - Ingibjörg Ragnheiður Egilsdóttir

The 18 year-old new Miss Universe beat two first runner-up contestants who tied for second place, Miss Dominican Republic Ada Aimee de la Cruz, and Miss Australia Rachael Finch. The second runner-up was the Miss Kosovo Gona Dragusha.
