Ted Kennedy, Jr., gave us an insight into the personal goodness of the public man.
Edward ‘Ted’ Kennedy Jr. and President Barack Obama amongst others paid their last tribute to Senator Edward M. Kennedy (aka Ted Kennedy), who died after a long battle with brain cancer last week, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica on Saturday (August 29).
Kennedy died Tuesday night in Hyannis Port after a 15-month battle with brain cancer. He was 77, and had represented Massachusetts in the Senate since 1962. As his cortege passed through Boston, a bell at Faneuil Hall was rung 47 times -- once for each of Kennedy's 47 years in office.
Obama spoke highly of his friend and colleague Ted Kennedy, describing him as “a champion for those who had none; the soul of the Democratic Party; and the lion of the U.S. Senate.”
Also at the funeral service were former US Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter, former Vice Presidents Al Gore and Dan Quayle, Vice President Joe Biden, Senator John McCain and family members like California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is married to Kennedy’s niece Maria Shriver, Victoria Kennedy, Kennedy’s widow and her son Curran Raclin.
