The International Olympic Committee decided to send the Olympic Games to South America for the first time, inspiring shouts of joy on Rio de Janeiro's beaches,President Obama with his wife Michelle, is in Copenhagen to make their effort and bring the Olympics to U.S. soil again ahead of the 2016 Olympics announcement, In Chicago exactly,But things changed.
The IOC awarded the 2016 Summer Games to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after unceremoniously booting Chicago out of the four-city fight for the Games in the first round of secret-ballot voting.
Though many present at the vote said Obama's appearance was well received, it was not the deal-clincher for his adopted hometown some observers anticipated.
This will be the first Olympics (if im not mistaken, in South America, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva broke into tears of joy).
Tokyo was another candidate but failed to make the cut. Chicago was eliminated in the first round of voting, a shocker for sure to many.
Obama made strong appeals to bring the Olympics to America but the emotional tugs by President Lula and former IOC president Juan Samaranch got them to agree to bring it to Rio De Janeiro.
