Dave Levey was announced as the big winner of the sixth season of “Hell’s Kitchen” on Tuesday. The 32 year-old San Diego chef beat Kevin Cottle (2nd place) and Ariel Contreras (3rd place) to win a Head Chef position under Executive Chef James Walt at the Araxi Restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia for a year.
Levey took the win tonight one armed, literally, beating out 17 contestants, played through the pain. Kevin was probably one of the most consistently good chefs this season had to settle for the runners up spot.
Chef Ramsay had chefs from the country to help him chose judge and Ariel started off by not knowing what she had served, as she could not explain her dish. Kevin’s Mexican dish was well explained, looked pretty good, but he screwed up royally when he forgot the sauce.
The sixth season premiered on July 21, 2009, and will be seen Tuesday nights. The contestants will compete for the title of head chef at Araxi Restaurant, in Whistler, BC.Robert Hesse, who had to make a premature exit from Season 5 due to medical reasons, was personally asked by Ramsay to come back and try to compete again in the season premiere, which Robert accepted. On October 13, 2009, Dave Levey was announced as the season's winner.
