Firefox 3.5 Download Now

The day a new Firefox version comes out is always a fun day for me, because right now I feel like a little kid on Christmas, waiting to get to open his presents. Today is the day that Firefox 3.5 is released to the public.

The new browser will include a number of advances, including geolocation software that can be used to provide information about local firms during searches.

Other features include a private browsing mode that will not record which web sites have been visited and a speeded-up JavaScript engine dubbed TraceMonkey.

The latest version, which should be released in 70 languages, will also have improved stability and additional anti-malware features to protect users.

Demand for the new browser is expected to be heavy. The previous major release broke the world record for the most downloads in a single day after 8,002,530 people downloaded the code.

This year I hesitated to download any of the release candidates, because they always seem to spoil some of the surprise. So, like many of you, I am anxiously awaiting Mozilla’s web site update that says Firefox 3.5 is ready for download.

“All common vectors for script injection will no longer work and the bar for a successful attack is placed much, much higher.”

Jon & Kate Kids' Sake : divorce last Monday

Finally in agreement for a change, the estranged duo issued a joint statement Monday informing us that they plan to live their lives as privately as possible for awhile.
"During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family," the Gosselins said. "This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation.

This attempt at taking themselves out of the tabloid equation follows TLC's announcement that there won't be any new episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8 until August.

Meanwhile, the couple's pending divorce has thrown a wrench into more than TLC's shooting schedule.

Presumably figuring the whole happy-family-round-the-table concept wouldn't be as believable anymore, publisher Zondervan has indefinitely postponed the release of Kate Gosselin's upcoming cookbook, to have been titled, Love Is in the Mix: Making Meals Into Memories.

Kate filed for divorce last Monday, saying in a statement that Jon's "activities over the weekend" had left her with "no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children."

Gosselins said. "This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation. "Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many. Thank you."

Short Kut: The Con is On Review

Arshad Warsi is self confessedly happy at playing the mean guy in SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON. For someone who is 'innocently negative' in the film, Arshad Warsi promises that audience will root for his character of 'Raju' who does everything wrong and yet makes everyone smiles.

Shortkut is a young heart warming slice of life comedy about the trials and tribulations of two con artists, a struggling director and actor and the zany situations they face in the pursuit of their tinsel town dreams!

'Well, I am the ultimate 'kameena' in the film'', laughs Arshad Warsi, ''He is such a bad person that audience will thoroughly enjoy his 'kameenapan' in the film. He does everything that is wrong, doesn't take a step in a direction which is right and generally makes life miserable for Akshaye. Still, all of this is done in a manner which is humorous without making situations overtly serious or dramatic.

Shekhar (Akshaye Khanna), an aspiring assistant director, and Raju (Arshad Warsi), a wannabe junior artiste, meet each other while struggling to make it in the film industry. While Shekhar is supremely talented and confident, Raju is a buffoon and a non actor who thinks he is God’s gift to Bollywood!

Janet Jackson emotional appearance at BETs

While BET celebrated the life of Michael Jackson the entertainer, Janet Jackson — in her first public appearance since her brother's shocking death — memorialized him as her beloved sibling and family member, eliciting tears as she vowed his memory would live forever.

"To you, Michael is an icon," a somber Janet Jackson told the crowd at the end of Sunday's show. "To us, Michael is family and he will forever live in all of our hearts."

It was a stirring emotional climax for a telecast that was completely revamped to recognize the legacy of Jackson, who died Thursday at age 50. For the most part, it was a joyous wake.

Joe Jackson, the singer's father, also was on hand to represent the grief-stricken family. "I just wish he could be here to celebrate himself," he said before the show. "Sadly, he's not here, so I'm here to celebrate for him."

The night ended when Janet Jackson — in her first public appearance since her brother's shocking death — emerged and elicited the most emotion as she vowed his memory would live forever.

"On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support," she said. "We miss him so much, thank you so much."

Afterward, Ne-Yo and Foxx performed a somber version of the Jackson 5 classic "I'll Be There," as photos of Jackson flashed across the screen.

At age sixteen in 1982, Jackson signed a recording contract with A&M, releasing her self-titled debut album the same year. She faced criticism for her limited vocal range, and for being yet another member of the Jackson family to become a recording artist.

TV Pitchman Billy Mays Dead at 50

Television viewers knew him as the OxiClean guy: the bearded, boisterous pitchman on commercials airing hundreds of times a week nationwide.Family, friends and colleagues mourned Mays, 50, who was found unresponsive in his Tampa home Sunday, and awaited an autopsy to determine the cause of his sudden death. The coroner's office expected to have the autopsy done by Monday afternoon.

William Darrell "Billy" Mays, was a television direct-response advertisement salesperson most notable for promoting OxiClean, Orange Glo, and other cleaning, home-based, and maintenance products. His distinctive beard and loud sales pitches made him a recognized television presence.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry to Mays' residence and foul play is not suspected. Authorities said an autopsy should be complete by Monday afternoon.

"Billy was such a sweet guy, very lovable, very nice, always smiling, just a great, great guy," she said, adding that Mays met his future wife at the network. "Everybody thinks because he's loud and boisterous on the air that that's the way he is, but I always found him to be a quiet, down-to-earth person."

Mays was well known for his numerous television promotions of such products as Orange Glo and OxiClean. He was also featured on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel, which followed Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs.

Chennai wins two Golds in Films Lions

28 Jun 2009, 0424 hrs IST, Rajiv Banerjee & Sonali Krishna, CANNES: It's an ad which has a foot-tapping score, which slowly envelopes you and then gets you into the groove. The Times of India 'A Day in the Life of Chennai' ad followed a similar trajectory at Cannes 2009 as well.

The first screening in front of the films jury elicited an enthusiastic response and even as they put it through a rigourous scan, its appeal seems to have grown on all of them. And on the last day, the Films Lions jury was unanimous in its verdict: Pure Gold.

The Nakka Mukka campaign has made Cannes history for India, picking up not just one but two Gold Lions at the International Advertising Festival. With the win, JWT India wrapped up its innings with three Gold Lions in its kitty thus giving the Indian contingent a lot to cheer about.

Tonight after the Film, Titanium and Integrated Lions awards ceremony, the closing gala of Cannes 2009 will definitely see an invigorated Indian contingent. It began on a tentative note with not many giving India a chance of matching the tally last year, but Indian agencies outdid everyone’s expectations, off course with help from Nakka Mukka.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen : buzz Up

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a 2009 American science fiction action film which was released on June 19, 2009 in the United Kingdom and June 24, 2009 in North America. It is the sequel to 2007's Transformers, which was the first live action Transformers film.

"We lost some machinery," visual effects supervisor Scott Farrar said with a smile. "The thing just kind of gave up."

A high-tech blockbuster, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" is practically two movies in one. There's the live-action element, which took director Michael Bay and his cast to Egypt, Jordan and New Mexico.

Then there's the animated aspect, encompassing all the robots, which were built by artists at Industrial Light & Magic and Bay's visual effects company, Digital Domain.

Meanwhile, artists spend about 12 weeks building each digital robot, then another 12 to 15 weeks rigging up the skeletal structures that hold all the parts together. Next comes the paint and texture. Chrome or brushed aluminum? Copper or glass?

"It's just the same as you building things in the garage by hand, only it's in the computer," Farrar said. "It's no different. All the tasks are the same, and the same disciplines apply."

The film grossed $16 million on its midnight premiere, the most ever for a Wednesday midnight debut. Warner Bros.' The Dark Knight amassed $18 million for midnight showings last year but that was on a Friday. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen achieved approximately $60.6 million in total receipts on its first day.

"Her big message to people is don't give up. No matter what they say to you, keep fighting," Alana Stewart, who filmed Fawcett as she underwent treatment, said last month. NBC estimated the May 15, 2009, broadcast drew nearly 9 million viewers.

Fawcett was involved romantically with actor Ryan O'Neal. The relationship produced a son, Redmond O'Neal, born in 1985. Redmond has struggled with addiction. In April 2009, on probation for driving under the influence, he was arrested for possession of narcotics while Fawcett was in the hospital.

Mystery Surrounding Michael Jackson's death

While the autopsy report of Michael Jackson is still awaited, people close to him have claimed that his dependency on prescription drugs, encouraged by "enablers", led to his sudden death.

In a press conference Friday, Lt. Ed Winter, assistant chief coroner, said the likelihood was slim that the coroner's office would have anything to release today and said results could take 6-8 weeks.

"We're conducting it as we do any other exam," said Winter.

Brian Oxman, attorney and spokesman of the late singer, told 'CNN' that there were "enablers" in the star's entourage, who pressurized the singer to perform and pushed him towards prescription drugs.

"I believe (his manager) Frank DiLeo was with him at the time (of his heart attack), that is what I have been told. This family has been trying for months and months and months to take care of Michael Jackson," said Oxman.

Billboard magazine editorial director Bill Werde said Jackson's star power was unmatched. "The world just lost the biggest pop star in history, no matter how you cut it," Werde said. "He's literally the king of pop."

Jackson's 13 No. 1 one hits on the Billboard charts put him behind only Presley, the Beatles and Mariah Carey, Werde said.

"He was on the eve of potentially redeeming his career a little bit," he said. "People might have started to think of him again in a different light."

Lara Dutta dating with Mahesh Bhupathi

According to a Mumbai newspaper, after her break up with Dino Morea, Lara Dutta has moved on and is now dating tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi, who recently was also linked to Raima Sen.

Lara and Dino, who were dating for a year, called off their relationship almost three months ago. That's when Lara met Mahesh through a common friend and the two instantly liked each other and started dating.

Mahesh's marriage to Shwetha Jaishankar has been on the rocks for quite sometime now. The tennis star and Lara have been going strong ever since they met. Lara and Mahesh are making sure not to make any public appearances together as their relationship is hush hush right now.

However, Lara is said to have wasted no time and has moved on to Mahesh, whose marriage with model Shweta Jaikishan is apparently not working out.

However, when contacted by the newspaper, both Lara and Mahesh rubbished the news.
Lara and Dino had started dating after she split with longtime beau Kelly Dorji. Kelly had recently claimed in an interview to a magazine that his former best friend Dino had backstabbed him by lying about his affair with Lara.

Rihanna, Chris Brown case

Rihanna may testify in the Chris Brown case today. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing, after which a judge will decide whether there is enough evidence for his case to go to trial.

The R&B singer is due back in court Monday afternoon for a preliminary hearing that could feature testimony from Rihanna and a crucial ruling by a judge in Los Angeles.

Brown was arrested in February on suspicion of hitting and threatening then-girlfriend Rihanna after a pre-Grammy party.

A judge will decide after listening to testimony whether the case against Brown should continue to trial.

Dozens of reporters have signed up to cover Monday's hearing, which is expected to last several hours.

Rihanna is scheduled to take the stand during Brown's preliminary hearing. Brown is facing felony charges of assault and making criminal threats. The charges are a result of an incident that allegedly happened on the eve of the Grammy Awards between Brown and Rihanna; the two were dating at the time, and Rihanna reportedly suffered injuries from the altercation.

Rat pack 10 finalists

Allison Our theme this week on "American Idol" is the Rat Pack. Despite my little Breakfast Club joke falling flat, I'm pretty excited about this theme. I love songs from this era. I think it will actually be a good week for everyone left, which makes me fearful for my beloved Allison.

I may have to vote again this week! With no further ado, here are my choices for this week.

In a small, unadorned studio far removed from cameras, spotlights and songs ending with an instant review, the top 10 "American Idol" finalists are getting ready for a nationwide tour.

They're working on the intricacies of a group performance of "Don't Stop Believin'," with Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre singing and playing at dual pianos and the other eight, slouching comfortably on leather couches, adding their voices from the sidelines.

Brad Pitt's Moneyball

Steven Soderbergh and Brad Pitt were getting reading to start filming "Moneyball" on Monday in Phoenix, when Columbia Pictures decided to abandon the project. On Friday, Columbia Pictures head Amy Pascal placed the picture into "limited turnaround," giving Soderbergh the chance to set the pick up at another studio, with Warner Bros and Paramount the prime targets.

With a new deal not yet in place, Columbia will take tomorrow to re-examine where to go from here with Moneyball. There are several options, including delaying the film until Pascal believes she and Soderbergh are on the same page, replacing the director or, the worst-case scenario, pulling the plug on the project altogether.

This is not the first issue Moneyball has run into. While the baseball-themed flick has been approved by Major League Baseball itself, it follows a format that is less than mainstream and rarely a huge success in theaters.

Soderbergh has hired Pitt to play the lead character, Billy Beane, but is also utilizing live interviews with actual athletes, including Daryl Strawberry and Lenny Dykstra, and interspersing the vignettes throughout the movie.

"Moneyball" is based on the bestselling Michael Lewis book about a ballplayer-turned-Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane (Pitt) and his attempt to field a competitive team on a slim payroll. His system, known as "Earned Run Value," allowed Beane to evaluate valuable players he could hire at low cost.

Paying Guests Movie Review

Never judge a book by its cover. But we do! We tend to get carried away by eye-catching promos that a film-maker unleashes prior to a film’s release. We act in haste, rush to a nearby cineplex and soon realise that the best parts were actually highlighted in the promos itself.

That’s exactly what you feel when you watch PAYING GUESTS, helmed by first-timer Paritosh Painter.

Comedy is serious business and Paritosh Painter ought to know this by now, since he has successfully directed a number of plays in the past. Sadly, PAYING GUESTS stands on a waferthin plot, although Paritosh tries hard to add meat to the skeletal body. The film doesn’t have the power to hold your attention for the next 2 hours, although it does [intermittently] make you smile or break into a guffaw.

What happens when four young, fun loving boys [Shreyas Talpade, Javed Jaffrey, Ashish Chowdhary and Vatsal Sheth] begin a crazy house hunt which takes them through a series of ultra comical hurdles in a bid to find that one roof that can tolerate and shelter their combined problems?

In the search for a new accommodation, these crazy friends manage to convince their crazier landlord Ballu (played by Johnny Lever) to keep them as paying guests but, Ballu has one condition i.e. he wants only couples.

Of the cast, Shreyas is the best, followed by Javed, then Ashish and then Vatsal - in that order. The leading ladies don’t have much to do, but Celina and Neha are most noticeable. Riya and Sayali Bhagat don’t get any scope. Johny Lever is in form and so is Delnaaz Paul. Chunkey Pandey is alright, while Inder Kumar is wasted. Asrani stands out, while Viju Khote and Paintal are okay.

Illegal downloading of Music from the Internet : victory for the RIAA

A Minnesota mother has been found guilty of violating copyright laws for 24 songs. The record companies have been awarded $80,000 per song, which totals to $1.92 million. This case is an appeal from a 2007 case, which resulted in a $220,000 judgment.

This week's trial, in a Minnesota federal court, was short and sweet for the Recording Industry Association of America, which had brought the charges against Thomas-Rasset in the nation's sole music file-sharing case that has gone to trial.

The RIAA recently changed its tactics against what it maintains is the illegal downloading of music from the Internet. Now it's asking Internet service providers to send warnings to suspected illegal downloaders.

The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) was willing to settle for only $3,000 to $5,000 per song earlier in the case. They claim to still be willing to settle.

The case stems from an accusation of her offering 1,700 songs on Kazaa in 2005, before the company became a legal subscription service. The record companies chose to only pursue 24 infringements.

FIR filed against Shah Rukh Khan

The Bandra police has filed a case against bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly making comments about Prophet Mohammad but the actor said it is a writing error and not a thought or view that he believes in."We have registered an FIR against Shah Rukh Khan after we received an application from an advocate who alleged that the actor made some statements hurting the sentiments of Muslims," senior police inspector of Bandra police station, Prakash George, told PTI.

The case was registered under section 295-a (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious sentiments) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common interest) of IPC.

Meanwhile, Shahrukh, who is currently busy shooting for Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan in the US, said that he was misrepresented. He added that his most important objective in life is to stand up for the tenets of Islam.

Baron Cohen appears with bull in Spain

Funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen continued his headline-grabbing publicity tour on Thursday by dressing up as a bull for the Madrid, Spain premiere of his new film Bruno. The outrageous Brit, who fell onto Eminem at the MTV Movie Awards dressed as a bare-bummed dove, posed as a gay Queen's guard for the London premiere of his new film on Wednesday, and was up to his tricks again outside Spain's bullfighting Mecca.

Baron Cohen's 2006 movie, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," was a surprise box-office hit.

His new film, which is scheduled for release July 10, features a flamboyantly gay character whose outrageous wit outstrips that of Borat.

Sporting large hooves and a well-endowed furry black bull costume, Bruno strutted on a sand-colored carpet and invited "all cute bullfighters" to his hotel room for a party.

Baron Cohen staged an elaborate prank at the recent MTV Movie Awards. In character as Bruno, he descended from the ceiling on a wire and, in a fake mishap, ended with his bare hindquarters in rapper Eminem's face.

Baron Cohen also bares all on the cover of July's GQ magazine.

World's Oldest Man Henry Allingham

Great War veteran Henry Allingham has become the world's oldest man following the death of 113-year-old Japanese record holder Tomoji Tanabe today.Guinness World Records confirmed Mr Allingham, one of only two surviving World War veterans in the UK, now holds the title.

"It's staggering. He (Allingham) is philosophical. He will take it in his stride, like he does everything else," said Allingham's spokesman, Dennis Goodwin.

"He withdraws in himself and he chews it over like he does all the things he has done in his life. That's his secret I think".

Mr Tanabe died in his sleep at his home in southern Japan earlier today at the age of 113. A city official in Miyakonojo on Japan's southern island of Kyushu said 'he died peacefully' and that his family were at his side when he passed away.

Tanabe, who was born on September 18, 1895, had eight children, 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest man when he was 111 years old.

After Allingham, the world's next oldest man is the oldest living American, Walter Breuning, who was born on September 21, 1896, according to Damian Field of Guinness World Records.

The world's oldest known person is 115-year-old Gertrude Baines who lives in Los Angeles.

Allingham, who lives in a care home for blind former armed services staff near Brighton, on the southern English coast, is one of three surviving Britons from World War I.

The TLC network says its biggest stars, Jon and Kate Gosselin, will announce a major decision on their reality show, "Jon & Kate Plus 8."TLC isn't commenting on what the news will be from these parents of 8-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets.

But viewers who have witnessed the Gosselins' marriage coming unraveled are clearly welcome to draw their own conclusions leading up to Monday's episode. And to show up in droves to see it. The show is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. EDT.

Dr. George O'Malley out of Grey's Anatomy

Dr. George O'Malley is a fictional character from the ABC television series Grey's Anatomy, portrayed by actor T.R. Knight, who was nominated Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series at the 2007 Emmy Awards. Knight has portrayed George since the beginning of the show.

Dr. George O'Malley is checking out of "Grey's Anatomy" but Dr. Izzie Stevens is likely to remain on staff.

A person with knowledge of contract negotiations with T.R. Knight, who plays George on the ABC drama, said Thursday the actor is leaving the show. The person, who wasn't authorized to discuss the negotiations publicly, asked not to be identified.

But the person said that negotiations with Katherine Heigl were more successful and she's expected to return as Izzie.

The season finale in May left the fate of George and Izzie unclear, with both characters at death's door -- or possibly beyond it.

A publicist for Knight declined comment. Heigl's representative did not immediately respond to an e-mail request for comment.

Norway Hills Are Fabulous To Watch

Big Mantrap Lake, just north of Park Rapids, Minnesota. You will find us nestled among the pine, spruce and birch trees which make up the Paul Bunyan State Forest. See bald eagles soar the sky above and nest near the waters edge. Watch the deer drink from the clear water and the beaver, muskrat and otter stay busy at their summer tasks. The call of the loon will linger in your memory long after you return home.

CMS Made Simple

CMS Made Simple provides a fast and easy way to create a web site and manage its contents. Use it to make a home page for your family or your multinational corporation!

I’ve worked with Joomla!, Wordpress, Blogspot, Blogger, Zencart osCommerce, and custom CMS tools, and I must say that CMS Made Simple is by far my favorite. It just makes sense to me and I’m really surprised I don’t see it used more often.

To get a site up with CMS Made Simple is just that, simple. For those with more advanced ambitions there are plenty of addons to download. And there is an excellent community always at your service.

It's very easy to add content and addons wherever you want them to appear on the site. Design your website in whatever way or style you want and just load it into CMSMS to get it in the air. Easy as that!

CMS Made Simple on the other hand is… SIMPLE! CMSMS takes Joomla’s menu manager and article manager and combines them into one incredibly easy interface called Pages. Hey, an area called Pages where I go to edit pages, now that makes sense.

CMSMS does have its downfalls as it’s not really capable of a ton of end-user account management or social networking, but for the vast majority of personal and business sites I can’t imagine using anything else.

Jessica Alba won't face vandalism charges

Police have decided against pursuing a criminal vandalism case against Jessica Alba over some posters that were plastered around downtown Oklahoma City.Police Sgt. Gary Knight said none of the owners of property on which the posters were placed wanted to press charges against Alba, who has apologized.

Police never interviewed the 28-year-old co-star of the "Fantastic Four" movies, "Sin City and "Good Luck Chuck." She is in Oklahoma City shooting a movie, "The Killer Inside Me."

Police found the posters — aimed at raising awareness about sharks' declining numbers — glued to a downtown bridge, utility boxes and a billboard for the United Way charity.

Knight said it is typical not to pursue vandalism charges when property owners don't want to prosecute.

David and Victoria Beckham receive nanny apology

The Beckhams have received a High Court apology from their former nanny after she sold a story about them to a newspaper. The News of the World published an article which ran under the headline "Beckhams behind closed doors" in April 2005.

The case resulted from allegations made by Abbie Gibson about the private lives of the England player and his former Spice Girl wife after she had resigned from her job.

Her claims were printed in a newspaper article in April 2005, captioned "Beckhams behind closed doors."

On Tuesday, the couple's lawyer Gerrard Tyrrell told the High Court Gibson had now agreed to "permanent undertakings of confidentiality," the Press Association reported.

Gerrard Tyrrell, a solicitor for the Beckhams, told the court that Ms Gibson "has unconditionally apologised to David and Victoria Beckham and their family for breaching her duties of confidence".

Mr Tyrrel continued: "Ms Gibson has also agreed to the withdrawal of her claim for constructive dismissal that she made against the claimants which was issued in the Employment Tribunal in August 2005."

Niri Shanmuganathan, Gibson's lawyer, said his client was "happy to give the undertakings of confidentiality."
