Rossmeyer oversaw one of the largest motorcycle empires in the world. His Florida-based chain also included dealerships in Massachusetts, Colorado, Mississippi and Tennessee. He also launched Destination Daytona, a hotel-retail development surrounding his Harley dealership in Ormond Beach, Fla.

Ironically Bruce was on his way to the Sturgis bike rally in South Dakota when he tried to pass an SUV with a trailer attached, the driver didn’t see him, pulled into his lane and hitting his bike.

Former Philippine President Corazon “Cory” Aquino has died. Cory Aquino’s death was confirmed 3:18 am today. Corazon Aquino was 76.She was the first female president of the Philippines and was Asia's first female president.


Cory Aquino died of cardiorespiratory arrest at 3:18 a.m. at the Makati Medical Center. She had been hospitalized there since June of this year. Her son Sen.

"Our mother peacefully passed away at 3:18 a.m. (1918 GMT Friday) of cardio-respiratory arrest," her son, Senator Benigno Aquino III, told reporters in Manila.

All Roman Catholic dioceses had started requiem masses for Aquino, after they held "healing masses".Meanwhile, the government declared a week of mourning for her death.

Former President Estrada said that lost a "mother" and a "guiding voice of the people." Aquino supported Estrada's removal from office in 2001, but the two supported each other to oppose amendments in the constitution since last year.

The Senate has also expressed its grieving with Aquino's death; Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, who along with Fidel Ramos launched the People Power Revolution, asked the public to pray for her.

Minority leader Aquilino Pimentel served as interior and local government secretary during her administration had "mixed feelings" with Aquino's passing, saying ""We shall be forever indebted to Cory for rallying the nation behind the campaign to topple dictatorial rule and restore democracy."

The Palace has declared a week of mourning and is now preparing a “state of funeral honors” for the late president. Reports said she had learned she had advanced colon cancer in 2008 but was too weak to continue chemotherapy.

Funeral arrangements and a memorial are pending. Corazon Aquino will be greatly, greatly missed.

The pushy reporter did not stop there as she sent her friend to take another picture. That’s when Mel stepped in and attacked the clubgoer because he was fed up with everyone trying to snap a photo of him partying.

Our source tells us exclusively that “Mel approached the guy who tried to take his picture and ripped his shirt.”

No charges have yet been filed against Gibson but that will likely change, as Mel is seen as a walking moneypot.

The whole incident must have upset Mel because he left the club shortly after the incident.

Corey arrested, but she was alive and good healthy at a New Hampshire hospital.


As reported earlier this week, Darlene Haynes, 23, was found in her closet insider her home in Worcester. Her body had decayed to such an extent that investigators had problems identifying even her gender. When they did, they determined Haynes was pregnant and had been murdered and had her uterus cut open, her baby girl stolen.

Worcester Police Chief Gary Gemme issued the following statement:

“The entire Worcester community should be extremely grateful for the tireless effort exerted by the men and women of the detective division in working around the clock to investigate this case.

“Their collective efforts in developing information resulted in the swift location of the missing infant and the obtaining of critical medical attention.’”

TV producer Harvey Frand has died. NBC confirms Harvey Frand’s death tonight. Frand had died July 23 following respiratory problems. He was 68. Harvey Frand, an Emmy-winning producer who was the "man behind the curtain" on the Syfy hit "Battlestar Galactica,".

Frand's series-producing career began in 1982 with "The Devlin Connection," Rock Hudson's final series. Other credits include 34 episodes of the 1985-89 version of "The Twilight Zone," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Young Riders," "The Lazarus Man," "The Pretender" and "Strange World." He produced more than 20 pilots and movies of the week.

NBC Universal executive Todd Sharp issued the following statement today:

“Harvey was the Wizard of Oz, the man behind the curtain, the train engineer, the orchestra conductor, the school guidance counselor. He was adored by executive producers and production assistants, studio and network, cast and crew.”

Frand is survived by Bill Bowersock, his domestic partner of 32 years. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles' Alive Music Project.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Harvey Frand will be greatly missed.

The call comes in the wake of the massive media and public attention Andrews received last week when she confirmed that it was her in the voyeur peephole video that surfaced on an online sports blog.

Andrews went on a bit of a self-absorbed rant to the 911 dispatcher making sure to point out that she was not Britney Spears and that she did nothing wrong.

A distressed Andrews told the dispatcher, “I have been in the news recently about being in a hotel naked. I am all over the news right now.”

The confused dispatcher replied, “I am sorry I am not familiar with who you are.”

Andrews went on to explain who she was in great detail, “I am the girl that was videotaped without her knowing without her clothes on in the hotel and I got two a**holes sitting outside my house….I can’t believe these jerks are knocking on my door. F***ing a**holes!”

Andrews went on to say, “I did nothing wrong and I’m being treated like f***ing Britney Spears and it sucks.”

How dare Erin insult Britney. As questionable as it might be, at least Britney has talent.

ESPN and Erin’s lawyers screwed up by confirming that it was her in the peephole video and threatening legal action. If they had just ignored it, it would have disappeared. The woman in the video is a cute blonde, but she is near impossible to 100% confirm as Andrews.

Andrews will have some more problems with obsessive fans and media, but she will end up being a much bigger celebrity in the wake of the scandal. I am still not convinced that she didn’t set up the whole thing in the first place to help skyrocket her career.

Yahoo vs Microsoft Deal : Google Eagle Eye

Microsoft and Yahoo have reached an agreement on an online search and advertising partnership after months of speculation.Instead of a buyout, as originally planned by Microsoft, the two will enter into a revenue sharing agreement. It is expected to be announced officially today (29 July 2009).


In the spring of 2008, Microsoft made a $47.5 billion hostile offer to buy Yahoo after on-and-off talks about a merger had led nowhere. After a bruising, four-month battle, Microsoft abandoned the offer. Anger among Yahoo shareholders led to a management change and the replacement of its co-founder Jerry Yang by Carol Bartz, an outsider who is now Yahoo's chief executive.

The partnership deal comes after months of intermittent talks about joining forces in the online advertising market to challenge Google.

Under the expected deal, Microsoft's recently-launched Bing search engine will drive Yahoo's searches, according to Advertising Age. Yahoo will handle advertising sales using Microsoft technology.

The new Microsoft-Yahoo pact is a measured step that represents a pragmatic division of duties between the two companies. Under the pact, Microsoft will provide the underlying search technology on Yahoo's popular Web sites.

The deal provides a lift for Microsoft's recent overhaul of its search engine, renamed Bing, which has won praise and favorable reviews, after years of falling further and further behind Google.

For Yahoo, the move furthers the strategy under Ms. Bartz to focus the company on its strengths as a producer of Web media sites, from finance to sports, as a marketer and a leader in on-line display advertising that accompanies published Web sites.

Her boyfriend Roberto C. Rodriguez was already interview by the Worcester police. Darlene had an active restraining order against Roberto for an alleged assault on June 24th, when she was 7 months pregnant.

Darlene’s baby could have survived but needs immediate medical attention. Authorities are asking for the public that has any information on the missing fetus/baby to contact the Worcester Police Department Detective Bureau at 508-799-8651.

Jim Johnson, Eagles’ defensive coordinator, who fought cancer, has died.after a long battle with skin cancer. Jim, who was 68 years old, worked for as defensive coordinator for 10 years under coach Andy Reid before being replaced by Sean McDermott just last week.

In more than 40 years of coaching, Johnson held head coaching duties only once (at the collegiate level), but was interviewed by the Arizona Cardinals regarding their head coaching vacancy in 2004.

“For ten years, Jim Johnson was an exceptional coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, but more importantly, he was an outstanding human being,” Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement released by the team.

“Jim epitomized the traits of what a great coach should be — a teacher, a leader and a winner. He positively touched the lives of so many people in and out of the Eagles organization. It was easy to feel close to him. We will miss him greatly.”

The Eagles were second in the NFL in sacks between 2000 and 2008 under Johnson. While with the Eagles for a decade, Johnson worked in the NFL for 22 years. Ravens’ John Harbaugh, who previously worked under Johnson.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Jim Johnson will be greatly missed.

Anna McCraney, a graduate from Rhode Island School of Design, has beaten two other designers to steal the crown on "The Fashion Show". The votes that determine who win were quite above the par. Anna won 56% of them while Daniella and James-Paul got 25% and 19% respectively.


The Bravo show really had some great talent. The series started slow, and despite the often annoying hosts, the show delivered a strong ending because of incredible talent coming from these final three contestants. (Jon-Paul was so good.)

While the show never delivered the ratings of Project Runway, it did deliver a well produced show that definitely has room to grow.

Though coming out as a winner, Anna's victory was not immediately foreseen. Anna's final collection was criticized by the judges of lacking cohesiveness and she did not particularly stand among the crowd. "I don't have the TV personality," she admitted during the finale on Thursday, July 23. "I'm not that person with the witty remarks."

NTU Virus Bom : Anti virus compound for swine flu

A National Taiwan University research team has developed an anti-virus compound that can break down the surface structures of the H1N1, enterovirus and avian flu viruses as well as of illness-causing bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus.


The compound can destroy viruses such as A(H1N1) swine flu and avian influenza and stop the spread of bacteria including those responsible for staph infections.

It could be used widely in hygiene products, detergents and air filters, as well as face-masks and protective gear, the researchers from National Taiwan University said.

Researchers said the invention was of special significance amid signs that swine flu had started to develop resistance to Tamiflu, the world's major anti-viral flu drug.

Steve Kuo, director of the Centers for Disease Control under the Department of Health, refused to comment on claims that the new compound can destroy viruses and bacteria.

He only said that alcohol mixtures with an alcoholic content of at least 70 percent can be used to control H1N1, avian flu and seasonal influenza viruses and that the DOH suggests the use of such mixtures as part of preventative measures to avoid infection.

The WHO has said the virus is moving around the globe at "unprecedented speed."

Britain is the worst-hit territory in Europe, with estimates of 55,000 new cases of the A(H1N1) virus last week.

A total solar eclipse passing over some of Earth's most densely populated regions on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, may become the most viewed eclipse ever.The eclipse affects northern India, eastern Nepal, northern Bangladesh, Bhutan, the northern tip of Myanmar, central China and the Pacific Ocean.

On Wednesday, 2009 July 22, a total eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses half of Earth. The path of the Moon’s umbral shadow begins in India and crosses through Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China.


The eclipse will then continue east, passing over Japan's Ryukyu Islands before reaching its maximum duration point over the Pacific Ocean, where the sun will be completely blocked by the moon for 6 minutes and 39 seconds, according to NASA scientist Fred Espenak.

Pasachoff will see only about five and half minutes of totality from a site in eastern China, but "once you have five minutes-plus of totality, the extra minute that we could have [seen] is not significant," he added.

The July 2009 total solar eclipse is expected to have the longest duration of totality in the 21st century, experts say, and should give Pasachoff plenty of data to keep him and his team busy for months.
