2009 World Series The Philadelphia Phillies won Game 1
They were equal-opportunity offenders, tossing mistake after mistake, to ensure their team would end up on the wrong side of the Game 1 of the World Series.On a night when the Yankees had a microscopic margin for error, their bullpen failed miserably.
The Philadelphia Phillies' Ryan Howard got the first hit of the 2009 World Series by doubling in the 1st inning. Howard was stranded in the first and the game was tied 0-0 after 2 innings. The Phillies scored first with a two-out solo home-run by Chase Utley in the top of the third inning.
Through the first five innings, Philadelphia starting pitcher Cliff Lee allowed no runs and only three hits and striking out seven Yankees' batters . In the top of the 6th, Chase Utley homered again with one out and nobody on to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.
The stellar pitching by Lee and Yankee's starter, CC Sabathia, continued until the top of the 8th when Sabathia was replaced by Phil Hughes. Hughes walked the first two batters and was quickly replaced by Dámaso Marté.
Marté got two quick outs and was relieved by David Robertson who walked Jayson Werth and gave up a two-run single to Raúl Ibáñez.The Phillies added two more runs in the 9th with an RBI single by Shane Victorino and an RBI double by Ryan Howard.

The police believe as many as a dozen people watched a 15-year-old girl being beaten and gang-raped outside her high school homecoming dance but did not report it.
Richmond High School Principal Julio Franco says “It’s one of our students. It tell them once they leave their house, they are my children.”
“Based on witness statements and suspect statements, and also physical evidence, we know that she was raped by at least four suspects committing multiple sex acts,” said Lt. Mark Gagan of the police department in Richmond, California.

Warhol portrait of Michael Jackson up for auction,Christie's auction house will offer up a portrait of Michael Jackson by Andy Warhol in New York on Nov. 10.
The auction house told The AP on Friday that the 30-by-26-inch portrait should fetch an estimated $500,000 to $700,000. It’s one of a small group of Warhol silk-screened images of Jackson created in 1984.
Deputy chairman Brett Gorvy says the seller is an anonymous private collector in New York who bought it from the Andy Warhol Foundation in the 1990s.
The image is part of 47 lots being auctioned, including two other Warhol paintings.

Richard Ramirez, a serial killer awaiting execution on California’s death row at San Quentin State Prison, best known as ‘The Night Stalker’ is now a suspect in the murder of a 9 year-old girl named Mei Leung. Richard was convicted and sentenced to death in 1989 for 13 murders committed in 1984 and 1985 in Southern California.
On Wednesday, they took a DNA sample of Ramirez to compare to DNA obtained at the crime scene. They report the DNA matched. The Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to attempted weapon possession on Thursday, and expects to receive a one-year jail sentence.
Lil Wayne pleads guilty in a New York courtroom to charges of felony gun possession and it is expected he will receive a one year prison sentence. Lil Wayne was arrested back in July 2007 for carrying a .40-caliber semi-automatic.
The rapper will be sentenced in February 2010 where it is expected he will serve eight months of the one year prison sentence that is if the judge goes along with the plea deal.
Lil Wayne, 27, also is scheduled for trial in Arizona on felony drug possession and weapons charges. He has pleaded not guilty in that case, which arose from a January 2008 arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.
Police pulled over Lil Wayne's tour bus in Columbus Circle on July 22, 2007. They said they had seen and smelled marijuana smoke wafting out the door before the bus left a concert venue minutes earlier.

Somer Thompson photo the body found Wednesday night
A 7 year-old girl, Somer Thompson, from Clay County, Florida, had been missing since she became separated from her schoolmates on her way home from school in Orange Park, Florida, on Monday.
Beseler says that he informed the missing girl’s mother Diena Thompson that the body found Wednesday night was indeed her daughter. Official confirmation of the body is pending a medial examination to be completed Thursday.
But identifying traits - a birthmark and clothing remains - indicate the body is that of Somer, reveals Beseler to GMA Thursday morning.

Actress Collin Wilcox, best known for her role as a rape victim in “To Kill A Mockingbird”, died after a long battle against brain cancer at her home in Highlands, North Carolina last week (October 14). Collin was 74 years old and is survived by her husband Scott Paxton and their children, Kimberley and Michael.

Steve McNair unknown girlfriend Leah Ignagni photo
Steve McNair was killed, shot to death, as he lay asleep on the couch, allegedly by Sahel Kazemi (photos), his mistress, who then killed herself, on July 4, 2009. New police reports reveal that the former Titans quarterback had another mistress, another girlfriend called Leah Ignagni from Nashville, Tennessee.
Now three months after Kazemi took McNair’s life before shooting herself, we now know that McNair was dating a second woman, Ignagni. Leah in fact reports being watched by a woman in a black Escalade just like that of Kazemi’s.
Yet Keith Norfleet, Kazemi’s ex boyfriend, thinks Kazemi did not kill McNair. Norfleet told press in an interview that aired last night on CBS that Kazemi confessed she and McNair broke up one week before the shooting.

Actress Mary Willa “Mamie” Gummer and her actor boyfriend Ben Walker are officially engaged to be married. Mamie and Ben, who met while working on a short movie, have been dating for about a year and a half.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s wife, Maria Shriver, was caught driving her car while holding her cell phone several times, which violates the hands-free cell-phone law her husband signed.TMZ earlier today posted two photos one from this Summer and another from this weekend of Shriver on a cell phone while driving.
In response, Schwarzenegger this afternoon tweeted to TMZ's Harvey Levin: "Thanks for bringing her violations to my attention. There's going to be swift action."But soon after his tweet, Shriver was once again jabbing on the cell phone while driving in Brentwood.

Family spokeswoman Erika Price Schulte told People “[Jaycee wanted to lift] the veil and acknowledge that she is doing well. She wants to thank everyone for their support and best wishes and to let people see that this is her.” Officials explained in August how Dugard was taken in 1991 right in front of Carl Probyn:
“1991 kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard has been located in good health in the greater Bay Area of California. At the time of incident it was reported that a vehicle occupied by two individuals drove up to Jaycee Dugard and abducted her in view of her stepfather. Since the date of occurrence the investigation has been ongoing and today’s events could bring it to resolution.”

Hell’s Kitchen winner 32 year-old San Diego chef
Dave Levey was announced as the big winner of the sixth season of “Hell’s Kitchen” on Tuesday. The 32 year-old San Diego chef beat Kevin Cottle (2nd place) and Ariel Contreras (3rd place) to win a Head Chef position under Executive Chef James Walt at the Araxi Restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia for a year.
Levey took the win tonight one armed, literally, beating out 17 contestants, played through the pain. Kevin was probably one of the most consistently good chefs this season had to settle for the runners up spot.
Chef Ramsay had chefs from the country to help him chose judge and Ariel started off by not knowing what she had served, as she could not explain her dish. Kevin’s Mexican dish was well explained, looked pretty good, but he screwed up royally when he forgot the sauce.
The sixth season premiered on July 21, 2009, and will be seen Tuesday nights.The contestants will compete for the title of head chef at Araxi Restaurant, in Whistler, BC.Robert Hesse, who had to make a premature exit from Season 5 due to medical reasons, was personally asked by Ramsay to come back and try to compete again in the season premiere, which Robert accepted. On October 13, 2009, Dave Levey was announced as the season's winner.

Utah marching band bus crash reported at 7:18 p.m.
Bus carrying American Fork High School Marching Band members crashes on Saturday evening. One adult died and several were injured in an accident near the Utah-Idaho border. There were 50 students and 3 adults in line. One adult woman is dead who is identified as a teacher.
The accident was reported at 7:18 p.m. The vehicle involved was one from a caravan of four buses carrying students from the American Fork High School marching band out of American Fork, Utah. There were approximately 50 students, as well as two adults, plus the driver on board the bus. Witnesses reported the bus swerved off the road before crashing on its side in a ditch.Idaho State Police is investigating the crash.

The Brazilian Carnival, properly spelled Carnaval, is an annual festival in Brazil held four days before Ash Wednesday. On certain days of Lent, Roman Catholics and some other Christians traditionally abstained from the consumption of meat and poultry—hence the term "carnival," from carnelevare, "to remove meat."
Carnival celebrations are believed to have roots in the pagan festival of Saturnalia, which, adapted to Christianity, became a farewell to sex in a season of religious discipline to practice repentance and prepare for Christ's death and resurrection.
Modern Brazilian Carnival originated in Rio de Janeiro in 1641, when the city's bourgeoisie imported the practice of holding balls and masquerade parties from Paris. It originally mimicked the European form of the festival, later absorbing and creolizing elements derived from Native American and African cultures.
Brazilian Carnival exhibits some differences from its European counterparts, having mixed African, Native, German and Euro elements. Furthermore, rhythm, participation, and costume vary from one region of Brazil to another.
For example, in the southeastern cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, organized parades led by samba schools vie for prizes on the "sambodromo" open stage. Only samba-school affiliates participate in the shows. Smaller cities often have no public events but promote balls in recreational clubs.

The movie trailer for Toy Story 3 has finally been released online. From the trailer it looks like the toys are in for a bit of an adventure when they are donated to a local child care facility. Police said a man got out of the car and demanded that he be served kebabs. When the shopkeeper Shahnawaz asked him to wait, he started abusing him. Another man whose face was covered then came out of the same car and started firing in which 18 year old Gagandeep Singh and the shopkeeper were killed.

Paranormal Activity Micah Sloat And Katie Featherstone
“Paranormal Activity”, which has been labeled as one of the scariest movies of all time, is a low budget film characterized by a clever “Blair Witch Project”-type of handheld camerawork that captures the “weird stuff” happening at the San Diego home of Micah (Micah Sloat) and his girlfriend of three years, Katie (Katie Featherstone).
The movie opens up with an intriguing title, thereby thanking the fictional family of Micah Sloat and Katie Featherstone as well as the San Diego Police Department, giving the audience a clear indication that the “found footage” is bound to have paranormal activities stored in it.
The plot of the story revolves around Micah and his girlfriend Katie who have been staying together for almost three years. The male protagonist gets hold of a video camera to shoot the paranormal activities that have been happening in his two storey building in San Diego.
Weird activities have since been occupied Katie whose actual house was burned down when she was eight years old. Since then she has been haunted by a shadowy figure as nightmares plague her normal life. The movie picks up from this point.
