rangers | Rangers to 2-1 Victory

The New York Rangers (2-2-1) handed the Toronto Maple Leafs (4-1-1) their first loss of the season by the score of 2-1 in hockey action on Thursday night. In his first game as keeper for the Rangers Martin Biron, along with first period goals by Ruslan Fedotenko and Artem Anisimov to give New York a crucial victory.

The Rangers who are missing stars Marian Gaborik and Chris Drury, truly came together as a team on Thursday night. The Blueshirts were very solid against a very high powered Maple Leaf team keeping Toronto off the boards, until Colby Armstrong ended Biron’s shutout bid at 11:04 of the third period.

In the cage for Toronto was backup keeper Jonas Gustavsson who had a solid 30 saves in the losing effort. Gustavsson could not contain the second chance effort and overall hustle that the Rangers displayed throughout the game.

Up next for New York on this long road trip is a visit to Boston for a Saturday 7:00 p.m. face-off against the Bruins.
