Romanian Gheorghe Hagi was appointed as the new Galatasaray Lions coach, replacing Dutchman Frank Rijkaard, with former Turkey international midfielder Tugay Kerimoğlu as his assistant, the club announced Thursday.
An official signing ceremony will take place today at 3:30 at the club’s Metin Oktay facilities in İstanbul. After a string of dismal results and falling far behind its domestic and European league targets, Galatasaray terminated Rijkaard’s contract as coach of the slumping İstanbul side by mutual agreement on Wednesday.
Liverpool's managing director Christian Purslow, who was heavily criticised by former Reds manager Rafael Benitez on Tuesday, has stepped down.
