Japan earthquake triggers tsunami, Tokyo's main airport was closed. A large section of the ceiling at the 1-year-old airport at Ibaraki, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo, fell to the floor with a powerful crash.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii said a tsunami warning was in effect for Japan, Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been issued for Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia and the U.S. state of Hawaii.

In central Tokyo, trains were stopped and passengers walked along the tracks to platforms. NHK said more than 4 million buildings without power in Tokyo and its suburbs.

TV footage showed a large building on fire and bellowing smoke in the Odaiba district of Tokyo.

Dozens of fires were reported in northern prefectures of Fukushima, Sendai, Iwate and Ibaraki. Houses collapsing and landslides were also reported in Miyagi.

The 2011 Sendai earthquake and tsunami was an 8.9-magnitude earthquake and resultant tsunami waves.The Japan Meteorological Agency's tsunami warning listed the magnitude as 8.8.It was located off the east coast of Tohoku, Japan on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 05:46:23 UTC at a depth of 32 km (20 miles).

The earthquake triggered a tsunami warning for Japan's Pacific coast and various other countries, including New Zealand, Australia, Russia, Guam, Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, Hawaii, Northern Marianas (USA) and Taiwan.

The tsunami warning issued by Japan was the most serious on its warning scale, implying that the wave was expected to be 10 meters high.A 0.5 meter high wave hit Japan's northern coast.

Two new MacBook Air models are displayed during an Apple special event at the company's headquarters in Cupertino, California. Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the new MacBook Air in eleven and thirteen inch models starting at $999. He also announced the OSX Lion operating system for Mac computers.

First and foremost, the new OS X will have integration with the Mac App store. This store could solve a lot of problems that kept Apple behind the PC for so many years. With the Mac App store, independent developers will be able to essentially create software for the Mac there were previous several barriers to entry with this before.

Touch capabilities via the trackpad will be enhanced, and there will be a new “launchpad” which many claim will integrate nicely with the Mac App store functionality.

Furthermore, even though Lion was unveiled, Jobs said there’s “more to come” which could indicate that well there’s more to come. Apple is great at waiting until the right time to release the right information. If the current features are only a taste, I can only imagine how awesome the rest of the New Mac OS X Lion 10.7 will be.

But why should any multiple murderer and no one can guarantee none of them will ever get parole get a two for one (or three-for-one, or 10-for-one) discount on their period of parole ineligibility?

While it's too late for the Williams' case, the Conservative government has introduced legislation allowing judges to apply each murder conviction in the case of multiple murderers to the period of parole ineligibility.

For a second-degree murderer convicted of two killings, where, depending on the circumstances, the sentence is life with no chance of parole for 10 up to 25 years, the judge could increase the period of parole ineligibility to 20 to 50 years.

A fire continues to burn inside the Westfield Galleria Mall in Roseville where a SWAT situation took place Thursday afternoon.The thick, black smoke was visible as far away as Sacramento on Highway 50.

After Piggee was in custody, the danger wasn't over. Even though thick smoke poured out of the roof, firefighters were kept from going inside because of a backpack Piggee left behind and the possibility of an explosive device.

Roseville Police Lt. Michael Doane said the bomb squad was getting ready to examine the backpack, but the fire flared up and technicians were forced to retreat for their own safety.

Pigee did not make any bomb threat, but he claimed to be carrying a gun, according to police.

For more than four hours, smoke poured from the roof of the mall, even though sprinklers were activated inside. Division Fire Chief Dennis Matheson said crews were kept from the fire because the bomb squad had not given an all-clear signal.

Tod Williams’”Paranormal Activity 2,” a sequel-prequel to Oren Peli’s scruffy, much-tinkered with no-budget hit is a confident, cocky and often comic promenade down the same primrose path. It had multiple writers which give it funnier touch for its first half, and a far more conventional one in its last half. Stakes are raised, the effects are more special.

“Paranormal Activity” worked by lulling us, feeding the viewer banality and inactivity until a tiny thing — a door opening, a shadow — jolted you into awareness. Williams and Co. aren’t nearly that subtle. But the best effects are still the simplest — a pool vacuum that crawls out of the water, by itself, in time-lapse, a dog alert to something we don’t see, a toddler excitably waddling over to a mirror.

It’s not a bad movie, far less graphic than most studio or indie horror these days. Even at less than 90 minutes, it takes its time to lull us into a false sense of security. But the horror movie tropes that turn up make this “Paranormal” feelsa lot more “normal” than it needs to.

23-year-old Dayna Kempson Schacht was killed instantly in a car crash on July 17th, when she lost control of her car and hit a row of trees just off Highway 19-41 near Griffin, Georgia. Minutes after the accident, firefighters had arrived and one of them made a video in his cell phone of the devastated dead body of Dayna Kempson Schacht.

Not only did the firefighter took the footage, but also shared it with his colleagues. Later, the video found Dayna's father, Kempson, too.In an interview, Kempson said, "It was bad enough that we lost our daughter. And now we have to deal with something like this, it's just beyond words."

Terming the video as a second trauma and feeling that the video has disgraced their daughter Kempson added, "How could someone, first of all, take the video. And second of all, how could they show it and discuss it."

An investigation is underway by the Spalding County sheriff's department so as to find the reason behind sharing of the video.

Spirit Day honors the teenagers who had taken their own lives in recent weeks. But just as importantly, it’s also a way to show the hundreds of thousands of LGBT youth who face the same pressures and bullying, that there is a vast community of people who support them.

Sony has named its forthcoming PlayStation 3 motion controller “PlayStation Move.” The company announced the name during the 2010 Games Developer Conference before proceeding to demonstrate several games and inviting attendees to give the technology a spin for themselves.

The controller is Sony’s answer to Nintendo’s Wii Remote and Microsoft’s Project Natal for Xbox 360 — a way to use motion to play video games instead of (or at least in addition to) buttons.

The buzzword throughout the presentation: Precision. From SCE Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida's inaugural lines ("A more precise, immersive, and responsive game experience") to SCE Senior Vice President of Marketing Peter Dille's use of the word over a dozen times thereafter, it sounds like Sony plans to square off against Nintendo and Microsoft by leveraging the Move's fine motor tracking capabilities.

Sony plans to charge under $100 for a package including Move, the PlayStation Eye camera and one game. The pitch: It’s far more accurate than Nintendo’s Wii remote, so it will appeal to hardcore gamers who play difficult games, not just casual gamers who enjoy party games.

The sensor controller will be accompanied by an attachment with an analog stick, just like the nunchuk that Wii owners attach to their Wii remotes.

Move will be supported by new games Ape Escape, Echochrome 2, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, plus old games LittleBigPlanet, Flower, and Resident Evil 5. On March 10, 2010 it was reported that Corey Haim was taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California and pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. (PST). According to CBS News, Haim died of an apparent accidental drug overdose.

The Canadian-born star's first role was in the 1984 hit Firstborn. In recent years, he appeared in reality TV show The Two Coreys.The series, which also starred Haim's friend Corey Feldman, was cancelled in 2008 after two series.

The pair, who both have battled drug problems in the past, starred in the 1988 movie License to Drive together and became well known for their on and off screen partnership.

"Younis and Yousuf both cannot represent Pakistan in any international games, but they can play in domestic cricket and compete in county cricket," PCB legal adviser Taffazul Rizvi told the Associated Press.

Former leg-spinner and chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Abdul Qadir has hailed the board's decision to ban captain Mohammad Yousuf and middle order batsman Younis Khan for life term besides imposing hefty fines on other cricketers.

Besides, a fine of two million rupees was levied on Malki and Naved each and that of three million rupees on wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, report said.

Umar Akmal, younger brother of Kamran, was fined two million rupees ($23,500), with both the brothers having also been put on probation for six months, said report.

A fine of three million rupees was levied on Afridi for ball tampering during the one-day series against Australia, report said.

The inquiry committee comprised PCB chief operating officer Wasim Bari, board member Wazir Ali Khoja, director of cricket operations Zakir Khan, team manager Yawar Saeed and Rizvi.

Sony India has also planned a Rs. 1,800-crore investment in the next one year on marketing and promotional activities to create awareness about its products. “We have invested over Rs.

700 crore in promoting the Bravia range of flat panel display TVs, which contribute more than one-third of the total turnover of Rs. 3,500 crore in India,” he added. The company also plans to double its dealer network from 2,500 now.

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake has struck Friday night the west coast of Sumatra, according to a U.S. Geological Survey report.The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has not issued any tsunami alert but they say there is a small possibility of a local tsunami affecting the coasts lying within 100 kms of the epicenter.

The quake is reported to take place at 11.07 p.m. at a depth of 10 km, about 119 km southeast of Mentawai islands. It was centered in about 100 miles west of Bengkulu in Sumatra, and 215 miles south of Padang, Sumatra, the USGS said.No injuries or outward damages have been reported so far.

Along the way, Vishnu reluctantly picks up a young runaway (Mohammed Faizal Usmani), a wandering old entertainer (Satish Kaushik) and a striking gypsy woman (Tannishtha Chatterjee). Together they roam in the barren land, searching for water and an elusive fair. The journey turns dire when they are waylaid by corrupt cops and a notorious water lord.

The key to their freedom is the eccentric collection of films and the two forty-year-old film projectors in the back of the truck. As in '1001 Nights', if the films are good, they live and move on. If the films are boring, they face death in the outback.

The journey proves transformative for each of the travelers, but especially for Vishnu who discovers life, love and laughter on the Indian highway.

The performances are eye-catching. Abhay Deol, once again proves he's hell bent on travelling the less-travelled road, while Satish Kaushik breathes life and soul into the character of the mela-hunting man from nowhere.

Michel Amathieu's cinematography creates unforgettable frames of sheer beauty and the screenplay crackles with some crisp humour. Don't go looking for run-of-the-mill cinema and you will enjoy Road, Movie which is does lack story and drama.

A gunman described by police officials as well-dressed, well-educated and well-armed for his minute-long shootout with police on Thursday just outside the Pentagon has died from his wounds.Law enforcement officials said they still had not determined a specific motive for the gunman, identified as John Patrick Bedell, 36, but officials said he “had issues” and that there were records of previous brushes he had had with law enforcement officials.

During a 6 a.m. news conference Friday in a parking lot outside the Defense Department, Pentagon Police Chief Richard Keevill said it appeared Mr. Bedell had acted alone.

“There is no indication at this point that there is any domestic or international terrorist nexus,” Chief Keevill said, adding that the assessment that the gunman acted alone was supported by surveillance video.

The gunman was wearing a suit as he approached a security checkpoint outside the Pentagon, near the entrance to the Pentagon subway station, during the rush hour Thursday evening. There was no indication before he pulled out a pistol “that he had hostile intent,” the chief said. “There was no distress in his appearance.”

Witnesses told news stations that they heard gunshots and saw people screaming and scrambling to get out of the area.The police said Mr. Bedell was an American citizen. Military service records were being checked to see whether he had any ties to the armed forces.

Messages posted on the Web under the username JPatrickBedell seemed to share some biographical details with the shooter and pointed to a distrust of the military and the government at large. “I am determined to see that justice is served in the death of Colonel James Sabow, as a step toward establishing the truth of events such as the September 11 demolitions,” the user wrote, referring to the suicide of an Army officer in 1991.

The Pentagon was briefly locked down after the shooting incident, and the subway entrance was closed for about two hours. Officers with military-style weapons fitted with flashlights could be seen patrolling the area around the Pentagon shortly after the shooting.

Sony PlayStation Network is still down.Sony PlayStation 3 owners in multiple regions (including North America, Europe, and Australia) are facing the inability to sign into the PlayStation Network online gaming service, corrupted user data and inability to play some games online or off.

The problems are accompanied by the 8001050F error code.According to Sony, they are still narrowing down the main issue and they are in continuous efforts to restore the service.

When they try to load up certain games — including the just-released Heavy Rain — they receive the error code and the following message: “Registration of the trophy information could not be completed. The game will now quit.” After the message, the system reboots. The problems seem to mostly affect older, “fat” models of the PS3. Slim models are either not impacted or affected far less frequently.

The PlayStation Network is down due to a glitch in the system. Sony is currently investigating on this problem and are focused on developing an immediate solution. users from all over the world are still unable to connect tothe PlayStation Network due to this down time that has been around for almost a day.

Trophies are prizes given to players for accomplishing certain tasks in each game; the trophies are synced with the PlayStation Network so players can compare their achievements. Gaming blog Joystiq found reports that the consoles were having their dates reset to 12/31/1999; that might somehow be related to the trophy syncing problems.

In the most recent update by Sony, they have confirmed that the slim units (120/250 GB models) are connecting to the PlayStation Network normally. The ones that are affected by the PlayStation down time are the older and fatter models of the PlayStation 3.

Sony PlayStation 3 received the PS3 error message “8001050F”.Sony have recently confirmed that they are experiencing connectivity issues with the classic PS3, they confirmed this on their official Twitter account, here they have acknowledged the problem and stated that they are working on a fix, also they believe that 120GB and 250 GB ’slim’ models are not affected.

The fault is being blamed on a bug with the consoles clock or calendar which oddly set the date back to Dec 31, 1999 for many users in the switchover from February to March. Sony is well aware of the issue and made a statement earlier. "We have found out that some users are experiencing a network connection failure when signing on to PlayStation Network," the PlayStation maker said.

It has now been 10 hours since Sony have tweeted anything regarding the problem, while it will be silly for some people to waste money on a PS3 Slim when its Sony’s error, others will just see today as a kick to get the slicker, and slightly slimmer model.

Violent storms have killed atleast 50 people across Europe causing severe chaos. Casualties have been reported in France followed by Spain, Germnany, and Portugal where winds are travelling at speeds of 150 kilometres an hour.

France and Spain suffered severe flooding, while UK is also on flood alert and authorities in Denmark are on standby as the storm continues to track north.

A survivor described how she swam out of her house via her bathroom. She then climbed on to concrete pillars where she and her husband spent the night lying flat so as to reduce the impact of the high winds.They waited there until they were finally rescued in the morning.

A woman looks anxiously across a flooded road to a dormer window from where her parents wave at her, patiently waiting to be rescued.“They have been stuck in their attic since four this morning,” she says. “They still haven’t been rescued and I heard the tide might rise again. I’m very worried. They have no electricity and they’re in their seventies.”

The extent of the damage is pushing rescue services to the limit. Firemen patrol by boat, marking the houses they have checked for survivors or victims with “vu”, the French word for “seen”.

The government has labelled the area a “natural catastrophe” – half a million people are without electricity and infrastructure has been badly hit.
